Giants are fantastic, though, so build the Troll Cave then wait to upgrade to The Stompin’ Groundz as early as possible.
The AI won’t take advantage of them but it won’t stop them from failing you. Trolls are worthless and can easily be taken advantage of. I personally only use Goblins as archers, which keeps them away from combat and less likely to succumb to cowardice, and I avoided Trolls entirely.
Goblins and Trolls have very low leadership, so use them at your own risk. Morale can be your downfall in any battle. This should be done as early as possible so you can unlock the Arachnarok Spider, which is arguably the best unit in the game. On the topic of upgrades, don’t forget to build a Goblin Tinkerer Bench as it is the only way to start developing technology. This keeps your enemies down and also lets you keep your army happy while you’re waiting for an upgrade or new unit type to become available. When you don’t have a clear objective, leave your army in enemy territory and continually raid and sack the same settlements.
This means you have to be extremely aggressive and puts a huge target on your back. You need to keep moving and fighting to keep your armies happy and you get free armies when you fight more often. Greenskins The Greenskins are the easiest faction to understand but have a difficult campaign.
